This is a little story I sent to JVC for their newsletter. Enjoy:
Nashville was lucky enough to have our lovely Program Coordinator, Anne Torrez, visiting on Valentine’s Day; and, obviously, we wanted to show her a good time. We decided upon trivia at a sports bar across town. Upon our arrival, we thought we had it in the bag. We had experts in education, health care, psychology, politics, literature, French/Spanish, music, and sports. What knowledge we were lacking about current pop culture (i.e. movies, music, T.V., celebs), we figured could be overruled by our understanding of community and social justice. After a strong first round, we were confident we would take it all. Round three, however, hit us like a freight train with zero out of five correct! Our last hope was the Double Down round. We saved face by answering a few questions right (with the help of the ever wise Anne, of course). While not victorious, we were all proud of our team effort. To say the least, JVC Nashville has found their purpose. With Trivial Pursuit questions to study at home, we will return to trivia as victors.
